Contact High Music

Independent from Day One. Experimental by Design.

Founded in the early 2000s, Contact High Music was one of the first independent labels to surf the digital tsunami - distributing through AWAL (Artists Without a Label) years before the sale to Sony Music. The label was cofounded by artist and producer Michael-Patrick Moroney during his tenure as CEO of ArtistOne and as strategic advisor to the formation of AWAL's groundbreaking distribution platform.

Set up as a haven for border-pushing music, Contact High later became home to artists who worked between styles - post-punk and ambient, jazz and classical, left-of-center singer-songwriter fare. The roster for the label features eclecticism- and genre-defiance-minded artists like Panama, Cole Daly, Frank Cuthbert, Not Us, Mahlon, Hamasa, Drive Dogs, and minimal effort.

With a commitment to artist autonomy, sonic experimentation, and emotional expression, Contact High has always championed works that resist commercial norms. Nearly two decades later, the label remains as fiercely independent and artist-driven as ever - an evolving archive of singular voices.
